My local Walgreens is starting to suck. It took me almost an hour to pick up my prescription through the drive-thru this afternoon.
I went by around 10:30am to drop the prescriptions off, and I told the guy it would be about an hour until I came back to get them. I was waiting for the doctor's office to call on one additional item, but it's possible to buy it without a prescription. The guy told me that they hadn't received the call from the doctor's office yet, but if I wanted to just get it, it would cost $19.99. I said, "OK, go ahead and ring it up, and if the call comes in then we can go ahead and apply it." Well, it wound up being three hours by the time I got back (so 1:30ish), and they still didn't have all my prescriptions filled! I had to circle around the building and get back in line. Cue the grumbles.
The doctor's office did call in the prescription, so Walgreens went ahead and applied it to my item. When the woman was ringing up the prescriptions, I saw it rang up at $24.99. I asked her about it, and told her the earlier guy said it was $19.99. So, she had to run out of the pharmacy into the actual store to look. She said that they were on sale for $17.99, but the insurance doesn't ring up at the sales price so the cost of the prescription would be $24.99. So, of course, Walgreens tries to stick me with the extra $7. I asked if I could just buy it outright sans prescription and get it cheaper, so she had to back out the prescription and then ring it up as a normal sale. It was about this time I looked in the backseat and saw both girlies chomping on their crayons. *sigh*
So, I they finally ring up all the prescriptions, and I give them my card. As I'm waiting for them to give me the receipt, I look through the bags. As I rifled through the prescriptions, I saw that one of them wasn't filled all the way. The prescription was to take it 3X per day, and it was written for a quantity of 100. Since the item comes in boxes of 25, 50, or 100, I expected in order to get my full 30 days supply, I'd get 100. However, when I looked at the box, it said it was only for 50. I asked the woman why I didn't get the full prescription of 100, and she told me that my insurance would only pay for a 30 day supply, and if I got the quantity of 100, that would give me 34 days. The insurance wouldn't cover the quantity of 100, and they don't give partial boxes. So, I basically got a 16 2/3 day supply. The woman said that I could get another box when those ran out, but that means I'm basically paying 2 copays/month because they will only refill prescriptions every 24 days, and that's if they'll approve the 2nd box on day 16 because I only got 50 instead of 100.
So, I ask the woman if they sell them in boxes of 25. She said they did, so I asked why I couldn't get three boxes of 25 instead of one box of 50. That would at least give me a 25 day supply. She was all like, "Oh. Yeah." But, they couldn't give me one box of 50 and one box of 25, so they had to void out the prescription, refund my card, then reenter the prescription using a quantity of 25. She then comes to the window and tells me that they only have two boxes of 25 in stock, so they can give me a partial fill now and I'll have to come back on Monday to get the rest of it. Fine. So, I sat there for 10 minutes waiting. I finally had to pull around AGAIN because there were four cars backed up behind me. GRRRRR!
Third time was the charm, apparently, because I finally got the prescription after waiting for another 10 minutes after pulling around the third time. Poor guy behind me was probably pissed since the cashiers kept helping the people in the other drive-thru lane while they were trying to fix my prescription.
So, Walgreens is teh suck. At least my local one is.
